The Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, Wang Yi, stated that his country is willing to elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to a higher level during an official visit to Abu Dhabi, according to the Argentine News Agency.
Wang Yi affirmed that the UAE is a country of great influence in the Middle East and noted that the development strategies of China and the UAE are aligned, with similar governance philosophies and highly complementary economies, making both nations "natural friends and partners."
"Mutual trust, cooperation, and support for the One China principle"
The statements were made during a meeting with the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, where Wang Yi highlighted that throughout more than four decades of diplomatic relations, the two countries have respected and supported each other, maintaining strong and constant development despite changes in the international landscape.
The Chinese Foreign Minister, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, stated that Beijing seeks to strengthen communication and coordination, implement the consensus reached by the heads of state, deepen strategic trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and consolidate the traditional friendship between the two peoples.
Wang Yi also recalled that the second China-Arab Summit will be held next year in China and expressed his desire for the participation of Arab leaders, aiming to elevate relations between China and the Arab world to a new level, with the support of the UAE and other nations in the region.
For his part, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stated that bilateral relations have developed rapidly on the basis of mutual respect and trust, with fruitful cooperation in multiple fields, becoming a model of interstate relations.
The UAE Foreign Minister also reaffirmed that the UAE firmly adheres to the One China principle, supports Beijing in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and opposes any foreign interference in the internal affairs of the Asian country.
Both sides also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East and other issues of common interest.
